About us
Our club’s journey began in the 1860s, during the excitement of the Gold Rush. Originally established on a different site, we found our permanent home at Molyneux Park in the 1980s. Over the decades, Alexandra Bowls Club has grown into a vibrant hub for bowlers and locals alike.
We’re proud of our teams, who have represented us at national events and brought home prestigious titles. Today, our members compete in both men’s and women’s Central Otago teams, continuing a legacy of sporting excellence.
As lawn bowls has evolved, so have we. The sport is now more casual and social, and our club reflects that change. Our community loves social bowls and lively club functions, where you can enjoy not only bowls, but also darts, pool, snooker, cornhole, and even pétanque.
Gone are the days of strict etiquette and white uniforms. Today, Alexandra Bowls Club is a colorful, welcoming place filled with laughter, friendly competition, and plenty of banter.

What we offer
We’re not just a bowling club; we also offer members a variety of other recreational activities such as housie, darts, pool, snooker, pétanque, and mahjong. There’s something on the go all year round.
